A2A focuses on Transition Aged Youth (TAY) in the foster care system. TAY are young people between the ages of sixteen and twenty-four who are in transition from state custody or the foster care system. Once they turn 18, they can no longer receive assistance from the systems of care that previously provided their needs. Like most young people, TAYs are struggling to find their way with limited resources and experience. Unlike many, they do not have a solid support system, including the family resources we take for granted. TAYs have no family to provide them with furniture and houseware for their home. They have no family to help with security deposits, to guide them through the college admissions process, or to put in a good word for a new job. If we can grasp the hearts, minds, and souls of young people today, they will become thriving, self-sufficient adults.
